Hi, I’m Michelle, a South-African national, living in the United Kingdom, with my husband and daughter. I am a recovering corporate junkie. Passionate about my family, travel, learning, finance, data and analytics.
Going Brogues is about evolution. Firstly my evolution from what I thought I needed to be to fit into the corporate mold. Heels, pencil skirts, qualifications and titles. To my true self. Brogues, blazers, passion and purpose.
It is also about the evolution of finance focused on:
- Diverse voices joining the finance conversation in public spaces like social media, events and conferences
- Traditional finance moving to digital finance with a closer alliance with Data Science and Technological capabilities.
- Finance professionals adopting a partnering mindset and attitude of business enablement
The idea was borne after my search for corporate content, yielded tales of “The best pencil skirt for your body type” and “The ideal manicure for the boardroom.”
That wasn’t exactly what I had in mind. So as the old adage goes, “If you want something done right, do it yourself.”
In this blog I will tackle the topics above, my experiences in corporate and other finance related matters.
